SaaS Sales Hiring in London in 2027: What the Data Says

Brought to you by CloudScope Group × The Emily James Partnership

Key Takeaways

  • SaaS sales recruitment London employers plan for 2027 starts from a strong base: London attracted more tech investment than any other European city in the first five months of 2026.
  • The UK jobs market is recovering slowly. Permanent placements rose in September 2026, and IT and computing led demand for permanent staff, but recruiters still describe a fragile recovery.
  • Funded companies hire sellers next, so expect competition for proven sales people to stay tight in 2027, even while more candidates are on the market overall.

London remains the UK's busiest market for SaaS sales hiring, backed by record investment in AI and late-stage rounds during 2026. For 2027, the outlook is more competition for proven sellers alongside a larger, more mixed pool of candidates, so the employers who hire well will be the ones with a clear brief and a fast process.

SaaS Sales Recruitment London: What the Latest Data Shows

Before you plan next year's sales hires, it helps to know what is actually happening to the money and the jobs market. These are the figures that matter most, each from a published source with its date:

  • London leads Europe on investment. London & Partners (page updated 26 June 2026, using Dealroom data) says London attracted $12.6bn in tech investment in 2026 to May, the third highest of any city in the world and the highest in Europe. It also produced 12 new tech unicorns in that period.
  • UK funding has doubled. Dealroom's UK Innovation Update for H1 2026 (6 July 2026) reports that UK startups raised $17B in the first half of 2026, up 102% on H1 2025 and the strongest opening half-year since 2022.
  • AI is taking most of the money. The same Dealroom report says UK AI startups raised $12.6B in H1 2026, more than four times the $2.8B raised in H1 2025.
  • Late-stage money is back. Late-stage rounds made up 68% of UK venture capital in H1 2026, against 59% across Europe, according to Dealroom.
  • Hiring is picking up, slowly. The KPMG and REC UK Report on Jobs (published 10 October 2026, data collected 10 to 24 September) found permanent placements rose for a second month in a row. The rise was marginal, but the strongest in four years.
  • Tech roles lead demand. The same report says demand for permanent workers rose in half of the ten sectors it tracks, led by IT and computing and engineering.

The report also has a London-specific warning. Temporary billings fell sharply in London in September 2026, ending a four-month run of growth. On permanent roles, the report says three of the four English regions it monitors recorded higher permanent placements, led by the North of England, with the South of England the only area to see a decline. In plain terms: across the UK, companies are committing to permanent hires again, but cautiously.

What the Numbers Mean for Your Sales Team

Investment figures are not hiring figures. But in SaaS, the two are closely linked. A company that closes a late-stage round is usually expected to grow revenue quickly, and that means more Account Executives (AEs), more sales development representatives (SDRs) and often a new sales leader. When a lot of late-stage money lands in one city at once, those companies end up competing for the same proven sellers.

Signal What the source says What it means for sales hiring
Investment London attracted $12.6bn in tech investment in 2026 to May (London & Partners) More funded companies building or growing sales teams at the same time
Stage of funding 68% of UK VC in H1 2026 went to late-stage rounds (Dealroom) Pressure to hire experienced AEs and sales leaders, not only junior roles
Sector mix UK AI startups raised $12.6B in H1 2026 (Dealroom) Demand for sellers who can explain new, technical products to business buyers
Jobs market Permanent placements rose marginally in September 2026 (KPMG and REC) A recovering market where good candidates start to get more than one offer
Candidate supply Staff availability still rising, but at the slowest pace in three years (KPMG and REC) More CVs overall, but not necessarily more proven SaaS sellers

That last row is the one most hiring managers feel. A larger candidate pool can make a sales role look easy to fill. In practice, many applicants have not sold software, or have not sold to your buyer, so the shortlist of people who can genuinely do the job stays small.

The 2027 Outlook: Four Things to Plan For

None of the sources above forecasts 2027 sales hiring directly, so treat what follows as an outlook, not a prediction. It is our reading of the current data, and it could change if funding or the wider economy turns.

  1. Expect competition for proven sellers to continue. If 2026's investment keeps flowing into hiring, companies that raised this year are likely to be building sales teams through 2027. People who have hit target in a similar SaaS sale may have several options.
  2. Expect AI products to change the brief. With so much funding going into AI, more London sales roles are likely to involve selling products that buyers are still learning about. Curiosity and the ability to explain value clearly may matter as much as a list of past logos.
  3. Expect pay to stay a live question. The KPMG and REC report found that competition for highly skilled workers kept upward pressure on starting pay in September 2026, even as overall salary growth slowed. Check your package against the market before you advertise, not after the first candidate declines.
  4. Expect speed to matter. In a recovering market, slow processes lose candidates to faster employers. Agree your interview stages, panel and decision date before the role opens.

London or Further Afield: Where to Find Sales Talent

London draws more tech investment than any other European city, so it is also where competition for experienced sales people is likely to be fiercest. Three ways to widen your search without lowering the bar:

  • Hire for the buyer, not the postcode. If the role is hybrid, someone who sells to the same buyer from outside the M25 may be a stronger fit than a London candidate who does not.
  • Look at neighbouring markets. People who sell data, information services or property technology often have the same buyers and sales cycles as SaaS sellers. We have written about finding mid-market sales talent in property data.
  • Consider career changers for entry-level roles. Strong SDRs do not always come from tech. Our article on moving from customer service into tech sales shows where that can work.

Whichever route you take, the basics of each hire do not change. Our guides on how to hire an SDR and how to hire a SaaS Account Executive cover the interview process for both seats, and our piece on hiring for ramp explains why the first months matter as much as the CV.

Offers and Compliance for London Sales Hires

A strong London offer is about more than the base salary. Sales candidates will look closely at on-target earnings (OTE), how commission is earned and paid, and how realistic the target is. Two points to get right in every offer:

  • Put commission in writing. Acas guidance on commission says an employee's entitlement to commission should be included in their written statement of employment particulars.
  • Check right to work early. GOV.UK guidance on right to work checks says you must check that a job applicant is allowed to work for you in the UK before you employ them. London candidate pools are international, so build this into your timeline.

We have not quoted salary figures here, because we could not find an openly published, dated source for London SaaS sales pay that we were confident in. If you are setting a package, ask for a current market view for your specific role and level.

FAQ: SaaS Sales Hiring in London

Is London still the best place to hire SaaS sales people?

London is Europe's leading tech city on investment. According to London & Partners, it attracted $12.6bn in tech investment in 2026 to May, the highest in Europe. That points to a deep talent pool, but also strong competition for the best people.

Is the UK jobs market improving in 2026?

Slowly. The KPMG and REC UK Report on Jobs published on 10 October 2026 found permanent placements rose for a second month in a row in September, though the rise was marginal and the recovery is described as fragile.

Will SaaS sales hiring in London grow in 2027?

No source we have found forecasts this directly. Our outlook is that strong 2026 funding, especially late-stage and AI rounds, points to continued demand for experienced sellers, but this depends on funding and the wider economy.

Should I hire SaaS sales people outside London?

Often, yes, if the role is hybrid or remote. Hiring for experience with your buyer matters more than location, and neighbouring markets such as data and property technology can be good sources.

How do I make my London sales offer competitive?

Be clear on base, OTE, how commission is earned and how the target was set. Put commission terms in writing, move quickly through interviews and check your package against the market before you advertise.
